The Church of the Redeemer at the Giudecca

During the 1577 plague that hit Venice with incredible vehemence, the Senate made a vow asking Christ the Redeemer to intercede for the city.

At the end of the epidemic, Andrea Palladio was commissioned the design of this temple, erected at the Giudecca island.

This island, so green and peaceful, is often forgotten in the tours.

There is also the change of asking the permission to visit the friars' garden and orchard behind the church.
